About Us
International House had its roots in Brenda Neuenschwander’s desire to reach out to Internationals in Fort Wayne.
In 1998, she began teaching ESL to Bosnian, Chadian, and Sudanese women in their apartments. She recruited friends to teach, as well. In 2001, the outreach became a legal entity of First Assembly of God Christian Center, under the name of Local GO! In 2004, as the program structure and involvement of other churches grew, the outreach restructured as a 501(C)(3) corporation independent of First Assembly, changing its name to International House, Inc.
Today, International House has 100 volunteers representing more than 25 churches. Since its beginning, this local outreach has served hundreds of refugees and Internationals from more than 50 nations.
